Dr. Renada Goldberg identifies as a community-practice social worker and has experience in community building and family policy advocacy with her work in Minnesota on paid sick leave access and usage for employed African American caregivers. Dr. Goldberg's research intersects work and social policy, and she applies a critical family lens on insecure and precarious work as family level stressors and the social stratification of formal and informal labor economies. Dr. Goldberg's teaching philosophy is to engage students in critical exploration of social and economic inequalities upon family socialization and resilience. She views teaching as a medium to encourage future social workers to understand the variety of systems in which families interact and move within, recognize how culture and community norms influence family relationships, and learn how to advocate for family well-being within macro-level systems.
