Vee Williams

Associate Professor of Practice and Assistant Director of Online MSW Practicum Education

Vee Williams, PhD, MSW is a Professor of Practice and Assistant Director in the online Practicum Education Department Simmons MSW program. Dr. Vee has been a practicing clinical social worker for well over 15 years. Dr. Vee is currently a Licensed Professional Social Worker (clinical and macro specialty) in the states of Michigan and Arizona. She is actively involved in clinical practice with the private practice-non-profit sector serving children, couples, families and adults using a variety of treatment modalities. Dr. Vee has a plethora of practice experience across mental health sectors child welfare, assertive community treatment (ACT), community mental health, behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), serious mental illness (SMI), and juvenile justice to name a few. Dr. Vee has trained and clinically supervised a compelling number of limited (ltd) licensed BSW and MSW social workers providing them with the required support and training to attain independent full licensure.

Dr. Vee has provided support and training to graduate student(s) and student interns throughout her career. Dr. Vee has experience in the development and implementation of clinical practice coursework using simulation to train and prepare graduate level social work students for direct practice with diverse client systems.

Dr. Vee is actively involved with facilitating clinical supervision and generalist social work practice workshops in collaboration with mental health agencies. Dr. Vee has been instrumental in the development of a child welfare initiative with efforts designed to recruit and retain qualified clinicians across child welfare agencies throughout southeastern Michigan.
