The Boston Globe interviewed Francesca Corsinetti ’19, an occupational therapist, high school basketball coach, and founder of The Sports OT (a program that helps current and retired athletes navigate the complexities of mental health). As the Globe reported, she is “working to address and destigmatize problems including depression, anxiety, dealing with injuries, or identity preservation issues . . . to keep athletes of all ages focused on the field so they can achieve their goals.”

As Corsinetti reflects, “When I was in undergrad at Simmons [majoring in Exercise Science and playing for the basketball team], I knew I wanted to be in some type of healthcare field.” As a college athlete, she struggled with performance-related anxiety, which attuned her to the challenges of mental health. “There’s a big stigma around it, but we need to kind of end that stigma, and that’s why I’m trying to get everyone used to not being afraid of talking about it and just getting help when you need it.”
