The School of Business is a small community where professors are dedicated to teaching and mentoring students one-on-one. If you are driven, hard-working and want to be a female leader, this is the program for you.

School of Business alum Alexandra McConaghy ’18, ‘19MBA is using her sales, management and business development skills on her true passion: real estate. Currently, she is an ex-pat living and working in Singapore as a real estate professional.

McConaghy is part of a Simmons legacy, following in her grandmother’s and mother’s footsteps. Her mother was a graduate of the MBA program, and last year McConaghy completed her MBA as part of the BA/MBA program.

“In 2013 on my first day of my first year, I told John Lowe I wanted to be in the BA/MBA program,” McConaghy reflects. “Throughout my entire undergraduate career, he was my biggest cheerleader and mentor. He ensured me I was on the right path and introduced me to many career-changing opportunities.”

She encourages first-year students to consider the programs offered by the School of Business. “It is a small community where professors are dedicated to teaching and mentoring students one-on-one. If you are driven, hard-working and want to be a female leader, this is the program for you.”

And you’ll benefit from the guidance of excellent mentors and instructors.

“Jane Hughes is the best professor I have ever had in my educational career. It was an honor to be in her classroom and have her as a role model,” McConaghy says. “In every class, she brings in real-world examples, encourages everyone to interact and have a voice. She not only takes time out of her personal schedule but ensures that all students understand classroom topics and discussions.”
