Stacey Maguire

Associate Professor of Practice

Stacey Maguire believes in the infinite potential of the body and even more-so, the mind. (Yay, neuroplasticity!) With more than two decades of clinical expertise as a Physical Therapist (PT), much of it within the dynamic environment of a Boston teaching hospital, she has witnessed firsthand the remarkable capacity for recovery and growth in patients facing diverse challenges.

Her journey has been one of continuous learning and evolution. From her beginnings as a PT in 2000, she steadily ascended to the role of Inpatient PT Team Leader at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), where she honed her skills in providing patient-centered care, particularly in the realms of neurological and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.

In parallel to her clinical pursuits, Maguire has been deeply engaged in education for over 20 years. Starting as an adjunct faculty member at Boston University, she later transitioned to a full-time position as an Associate Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Simmons University in 2018. Here, she strives to foster diverse and inclusive learning environments, drawing on the learning from my PhD in health professions education. Her research also explores avenues to cultivate inclusive learning spaces that empower all students to thrive.

Beyond academia and the medical center, she finds joy and balance in various pursuits. These include board games, yoga, softball, and really anything outside in nature. She loves exploring and learning new things. She also is grateful to share her life and adventures with her wife, three awesome kids, and one beloved brindle pup.
