Issues and Concerns
Students come to the Counseling Center with a variety of concerns and issues. These include (but are not limited to):
- Alcohol and Substance Abuse
- Anxiety and Stress
- Cultural Identity
- Depression
- Eating problems and Body Image Concerns
- Family Relationships
- Friendship & Dating Relationships
- Gender Identity and Transitioning
- Homesickness
- Isolation
- Mental Health Struggles
- Partner violence
- Self-injury
- Self-esteem
- Sexuality & Sexual identity
Following your intake session(s), your counselor will make recommendations about your options in managing these concerns. Sometimes short-term counseling may be sufficient for to help resolve your concern; other times longer-term work and/or a referral for more extended care may prove the most beneficial for you. Your counselor may also recommend group counseling.
