Karlyn Grimes, MS RD LDN CSSD, has a dual Master’s degree in nutrition and exercise physiology from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology with a minor in economics from Colgate University. She is a registered dietitian (RD) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, a board-certified specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) and a licensed dietitian nutritionist (LDN) in the state of Massachusetts. She is currently an associate professor of practice in the Nutrition and Biology Departments at Simmons University in Boston, where she teaches various nutrition courses such as introduction to nutritional science; nutrition, fitness and wellness; sports nutrition; food and culinary science, as well as courses in the biology department such as exercise physiology, anatomy and physiology and general biology.
Karlyn also creates and administers nutrition, fitness and health education programs for athletes, educators, coaches and sports teams at schools and colleges throughout the Boston area. Programming initiatives include individual and group nutrition counseling and workshops, curriculum development, as well as sport-specific personal training. Additionally, Karlyn acts as a consultant for numerous health and wellness companies, such as Quest Diagnostics and Healthy Ever After, administering biometric screenings, nutrition and fitness workshops, health information tables, food demonstrations and other interactive health and wellness-based initiatives. In her free time, Karlyn loves hanging out with her husband, four children and two golden retrievers. She is also an avid runner and triathlete.
