Virtual Orientation Schedule

June Orientation sessions are the first part of your introduction to Simmons. You will hear from Orientation Leaders, faculty, and staff as they provide you with the knowledge and resources you will need to be set up for success. We can’t wait to see you there!

The below schedule is for Virtual June Orientation Session D on June 27.

9:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.

Welcome Session: Welcome address from Alicia LaPolla, Assistant Dean of First Year Programs. Overview of Schedule of Events.


9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Campus Life Panel: Representatives from the Center for Leadership and Engagement, Community Engagement, Colleges of the Fenway, and Athletics will discuss how you can get connected and stay engaged at Simmons.


9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Academic Life in the First Year: Learn all about the Simmons PLAN curriculum and hear from faculty first-year advisors. They will describe what you can expect from selecting courses and the academic guidance you will receive as a First Year student.


10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Student Success and Support Panel: Hear from the Offices of Accessibility Services, Global Education, Career Education Center, and Information Technology. They will review the resources and support available to Simmons students to thrive both in and out of the classroom.


11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Closing Session with Orientation Leaders: Want to know what it’s really like to be a Simmons student? Orientation Leaders will be on hand to talk about their experiences and answer your questions!

Six Students Selected for the 2025 Senior Scholar Award

Ginjer Doherty ’25, Aviva Foster ’25, CJ Haggard ’25, Theo Hatfield ’25, Lili Malatinszky ’25, and Grace Walters ’25 have been selected for the prestigious Senior Scholar Award at Simmons University. Sponsored by the Provost’s Office and the Office of Research and Fellowships, the Senior Scholar Award recognizes outstanding scholarly research across different disciplinary fields.

Thriving as Future STEM Leaders and Innovators

Fuma Iwakura ’26, MJ Vasquez ’27, and Gina Gawargi ’27 are part of the Dynamic Research Education Academy for Mentoring (DREAM) program, which currently has about 60 student participants. The NASA-funded initiative helps increase the retention of Simmons students in STEM fields.

The Simmons Edge Accelerates Academic and Career Success

Accelerated graduate education is a key feature that drew Kayla Pringle ’26 to Simmons. With the launch of the Simmons Edge, all undergraduate students will have the opportunity to graduate with an advanced degree in a wide selection of fields in as few as four or five years.
