Apply to Study Abroad

Application Process

  • After making an appointment with the CGE or attending a Study Abroad 101 Information Session, decide which semester you would like to go abroad: Fall, Spring, or Summer.
  • Start an online application for Simmons University in Studio Abroad
  • Within the applications, candidates need to submit biographical details, a personal statement, and select their specific host program in the Pre-Decision requirements.
    • At this time, make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months after your return or apply for your passport to prepare for travel.
  • The CGE then reviews your application and receives clearances from the Dean of Students, Residence Life, and the Registrar's Office.
  • Upon successful review of your application, the CGE will update your online application to "Participation Approved" and notify you via email with important "next step" instructions. These include:
    • You must also apply directly to your selected study abroad program as well (via an online application). This application can be found on their individual website.
    • Submit required materials and forms accessible through your online application for the Post-Decisions Requirements.
    • These materials include:
      • Passport and/or Visa
      • Health insurance card
      • Provider acceptance letter
      • Travel itinerary.
  • Sign documents included in the online application, which include:
    • Simmons Alcohol, Behavior, and Illegal Substance Policy
    • Simmons Study Abroad Deposit, Fees, and Withdrawal Policy
    • Travel Agreement and Release Liability
    • Health statement confirmation
  • If you decide to withdraw, email [email protected] immediately to discuss next steps and the formal withdrawal process.

Deadlines

  • Fall & Summer semester deadline: March 15
  • Spring semester deadline: October 15

Please keep in mind that individual study abroad programs may have earlier or later deadlines than Simmons University application.
