Microfridge Rental or Purchase

A microfridge is a small refrigerator with a freezer and microwave. These are the only microwaves allowed in student rooms. You can rent these combination refrigerator, freezer, and microwave units for the academic year or for the semester. Several options are available for semester or academic year rentals. Purchasing options are also available. Pricing is available on the New England Student Services website.

To rent or purchase a microfridge, place an order through New England Student Services. NESS can also be reached by email [email protected] or phone 401-405-0920. 

Units are delivered to your room prior to your arrival on campus and picked up after you leave. If you are unsure or do not have your room assignment when placing your order please indicate TBD in the room assignment field, as housing assignments will be updated by the Office of Residence Life. If your housing assignment changes for any reason prior to move-in, you must update New England Student Services.

In order to receive your microfridge unit prior to official move-in dates you must place an order by the deadline. 

You are responsible for contacting NESS if your room assignment changes during the rental period. You may move your unit to your new room yourself or NESS will move the unit for a $30 fee. Moving carts are available for check out in the Office of Residence Life.

Can I bring my own mini fridge to campus?

You may opt to bring your own mini fridge but it must comply with Residence Hall Policies and Procedures which state the appliance must be “energy-star compliant and no larger than 3.6 cubic feet.”
